Coorg ...........
Our trip to Coorg started on Friday the 19th. Everyone had really high expectations, dont know why I never fitted into the "High Expectations" group. For the first time as an engineering student I was on trip with 50 others and for the first time in my life I was on a trip where I didn't know everybody I was with. Here I go narrating my experience on my trip to Coorg.
Day 1:
Boarded bus at 10:30 in the night. On a very cold & chilly night everyone in the bus wanted some entertainment, including me. Not all were prepared to an unanimous mode of entertainment, but all of us ended up doing the same thing.......sleep.
Day 2:
Landed in Coorg in a town.......forgot its name....its ok that has no relevance to what happened on the trip. We settled at this lodge, cleaned ourselves & in an hour or so we were ready to go visit our first tourist spot.
It was a Tibetian Monastery, a great piece of architecture. They have tried to rebuild Tibet. The temple actually has a huge structure of Budha & 2 other people whom I couldn't recognize. It has great resemblance to one of the monasteries in Srilanka.
After the trip to Tibet.....we set off to a water spot......name of which I again can't recollect. I had water till my ankle. We had lunch there. That was one of the most boring tourists’ spots I have ever been to. The trip started showing its true color. Lunch was good, thanks to the cook who came along with us.
Late in the evening we went to a forest, crossing a river, with people holding "hands" & not actually bothered about others. The forest is supposed to be a place famous for elephants. I counted more dogs than elephants there. We set up a camp fire, there to have some "entertainment". Thanks to a few professional singers & actors, some entertainment was actually achieved. In fact few of the villagers actually joined us to dance for some Hindi music. We ended the camp-fire with a song familiar to the actors in the group.
The day was ended with booze....."Bacardi Rum"......makes my day. I had enough fag & booze. It was good fun with only a few going high & others remaining steady. At the end of it all I took an oath "Quit Smoking"......don’t know why but just took the oath & will surely follow it.
Day 3:
Sunday morning was realized very early by all of us, as early as 4 a.m. We set of to our first destination of the day...."Thala Kaveri"......the origin of "River Cauvery". Thanks to the bus driver we were not able to see the famous sun-rise. he drove at snail pace.....it took us 2 hours to cover 50 km. It got worse; our next destination 80 km away took us 5 hours from there, with a break in between for lunch.
The second place was "Irubi falls", a very pleasing sight to see the falls.....except we were really late. Again to get to the falls people reached holding "hands". We setup a camp-fire again to end it all with our dinner.
The highlight of the final day was a road trip.......I mean 15 hours on the bus with hardly any leg room. The places as such were a treat to one's eyes but still 15 hours is not easy.
Day 4:
Reached Bangalore safe and sound, without realizing anything from the trip. Personally I could take nothing from the trip. It seemed to be part of big story of a few individuals, which made me feel a little out of place.
But still a trip of 50 is not easy to be handled......Hats off to those who organized it. I'm pretty sure everyone had their bit of fun including me.
